Cyclone V ARM Experiments

Introduction

This page shows some results obtained during various experiments done with the Arrow SoCKit development board, which contains an Altera Cyclone V ARM FPGA.

Build-Instructions

FPGA-HPS Build

The repository contains a build environment which creates all needed Cyclone V SoC images. To do so, Altera Quartus including EDS must be installed and the env must contain the following exports:

  1. export QUARTUS_ROOTDIR=/home/dev/altera/13.1/quartus/
  2. export PATH=$PATH:$QUARTUS_ROOTDIR/bin:$QUARTUS_ROOTDIR/../DS-5/bin
  3. export QUARTUS_64BIT=$( [ “`uname -p`” = “x86_64” ] >> echo 1 || echo 0 )
  4. export SOCEDS_DEST_ROOT=/home/dev/altera/13.1/embedded
  5. file=/home/dev/altera/13.1/embedded/env.sh; test -e $file >> source $file

Clone the repository below and execute the following instructions:

  1. cd fpga/syn
  2. make all

After finishing, the generated files are shown and you can execute the SD-Card preparation make targets.

Linux and RootFS

  1. git clone git://git.rocketboards.org/poky-socfpga.git poky-socfpga.git
  2. cd poky-socfpga.git/
  3. git checkout -b dylan-altera remotes/origin/dylan-altera
  4. source ./altera-init build
  5. bitbake virtual/kernel virtual/bootloader altera-image-minimal
